Geography Studies

We have been following along with Tapestry of Grace Year One for our Geography studies, but I have added some other things to make it more interesting:

One great book that I have found is A Child's Geography: Explore The Holy Land, by Ann Voskamp & Tonia Peckover. It is available at Knowledge Quest. It is a Charlotte Mason style geography text which covers Iraq, Jordan, Israel, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Turkey. We are currently reading the sections on Egypt and the kids are enjoying it and learning a lot. We have read about the Sinai Peninsula, Suez Canal, St. Catherine's Monastery and the Colored Canyon. We read it in our play room with our big map nearby on the wall and I have the kids find the places we are talking about on the map.

I promise that it's not freezing cold in the house!
They are wearing their hats for fun :)

We also bought a great blank globe from Rainbow Resource Center. You can actually write on it with dry erase markers. I love it! The kids actually have to look for places without them being labeled!!

Here are a few of the geography games that we love:

That was my first thought when I saw this picture "How cold is it in there?"
I laughed when I read you comment below after I thought that.
Love you and miss you,
