Really, she's been sounding out words for about a year, so I guess reading isn't a new thing for her.
It just seems like in the past week or so, something has really clicked and it has become much easier for her. She's doing it much more fluently and effortlessly.
And tonight as she laid in her bed, she told me that she was reading a book without saying it out loud. This is a big step. She has now realized that she can sit and read in her head. Hooray!!
I am hoping that she just continues to improve over the summer break. Her reading skills will make next school year a lot easier for me as she will be able to do much more independently. How exciting!

That is exciting! One of my favorite things about homeschooling is teaching my kids to read.
