Winter Driving is Here!

Yes, it is that time of year when the lines of the road are all covered. When the sidewalks disappear. When people start riding their snow machines to the store. When parking spots cease to exist. Winter Driving is here! And I am not ready for it!

After a couple of warm days this weekend (which melted ALL of our previous snow), it has done nothing but snow all day today. The roads were slippery. I hate this time of year. It's much better during the dead of winter, because it's not nearly as slippery. Of course, then you have to plug your vehicle in wherever you go and it's dark in the middle of the day. That is hard to get used to.

Anyway, driving home this evening, there were a few pre-teen boys on the side of a main road on their bicycles. What WERE they thinking? It was almost dark, 24 degrees out, on the very edge of a slippery, snowy, main road. I am glad that I saw them from a ways back, because I let my foot off the gas. When I got about 20 feet from them, one of the kids somehow fell over on his bike in the MIDDLE of my lane. I am so lucky that no one was coming the other direction, because there was no way I could slam my brakes on without sliding into him.

I also now have to add a cushion on to my driving times. It will take me longer to get wherever I'm going. Only 7 months until this all disappears.......

OMG, how scary. Driving in the snow isn't too bad if EVERYONE is careful. But then you always have to expect people to be careless and that's when accidents happen, no matter how careful you are. I'm glad that boy didn't get hurt and I hope he and his friends learned a lesson (it sounds mean but I mean it in a good way).

ONLY seven more months??? ;)
