The Simple Woman's Daybook

For Today... October 13, 2008

Outside my Window... is a few inches of fresh snow.

I am thinking...that I don't want to drive to dance class on the slippery roads.

From the learning rooms...we're studying the moon in science and Ancient Egypt in history. I was hoping to do a hands-on project today (Make your own Papyrus) but we're quickly running out of time.

I am thankful that...my husband made it to Iraq safely!!

From the kitchen...we had breakfast for lunch (waffles, sausage, and OJ). I haven't planned dinner yet!

I am wearing...jeans, a t-shirt, and my winter boots.

I am reading...A Charlotte Mason Companion, by Karen Andreola (for about the 5th time, but it's been a while and I need some new inspiration)

I am hoping...that I can get to bed early (before 1?) tonight :)

I am creating...the school notebooks for the year (yes, I am behind)

I am hearing...the sounds of my children dancing and giggling together.

Around the house...I have tons of housework to get caught up on. Our water was out this morning, so the dishes are still waiting for me. I still need to put away TONS of laundry.

One of my favorite things... Blistex Complete Moisture. As winter is here and it is super dry, chapstick is an absolute must!! This is the best one that I found so far :)

A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week...the usual chauffering the kids around to classes. Bunco night this Friday - yeah!!!

Here is a picture thought I am sharing with you...

At least they are clean!!

I always say, piles of clean laundry are better than piles of dirty laundry! Just found your blog today and I really enjoyed reading it.

For some strange reason, I actually like sorting, washing, and folding laundry. I just hate putting it away. And socks - they tend to stay in the basket until we all run out and then I break down and match them up :)

Hi, First-time visitor here. The name "Island Academy" caught my eye. What a gorgeous blog! I love it. I live in the Samoa Islands ~ my husband is a professor down here. I also do TOG ~ yr 3. Well, God bless you, your children, and your husband on his deployment to Iraq! Renay in Samoa

You sure are busy. I don't know how you do it AND stay sane. ;)

Glad to hear Andy made it okay to Iraq. :)
