We decided that we needed to take some family pictures before Andy leaves.
The kids were not exactly in the mood, so we might try again tomorrow :)
I figured out how to use the remote control to my camera (yes, it actually has a WIRELESS remote control that can zoom and take pics!!).

I know exactly how hard those last couple of days and hours before a deployment are. I send you all my best and a big hug. I know it sounds stupid but usually it gets better after you said good-bye. A lot of tension builds up before and then part of that is gone because the worst part often is saying good-bye. And then you can finally start counting backwards. As I said, I send all my best and I'll keep Andy in my prayers. Don't hesitate to let us know if you need anything.

I feel better now, because honestly as much as I don't want him to leave, I just want to get it over with. It's been hard knowing for the past year and half that he was going to leave. It just seems like it's been very drawn out.
I just feel lucky that this is the first year-long separation that we have had. I know that you and many other families have had to do this a number of times :(
