Ice Alaska, Day One

I titled this post "day one" because we fully intend on going back!

What a great day. I can't believe that we didn't go to Ice Alaska last year. I must have been insane!

Ellie had the wonderful opportunity to attend a kids' ice carving workshop, aptly called "Camp Kidsicle". It was put on specifically for military children.
It's kind of hard to see her carving. Ellie made a flower. She said that chiseling the ice was pretty hard! When she was done, she was glad to warm her hands up. :)

We dropped her off and then started exploring the park. It was nice to have beaten the crowds. We were practically the only ones there. The kids spent a lot of time on the slides. We went in to warm up with some hot cocoa and then headed home for some warmer clothes!

Lexie, heading down one of the many slides.

On her throne :)

Kate, trying to decide who to call. It REALLY works!

Kate the Eskimo.

We returned, warm and fed, for some more fun.

Ellie finished up her class and walked through the park with us. This time we looked at all of the beautiful ice carvings as well as going down more slides and doing the labyrinth.

I want to make sure that we go at least once at night - when all of the ice sculptures are lit up in different colors. It must be awe-inspiring.

That wasn't so hard. I've already marked one thing off of my "to-do-before-we-leave-Alaska" list! This is going to be fun :)
